Funerals
We welcome all to mark their loved one’s life with a funeral service held in church. Following the church service, a short committal service is normally held at the crematorium (for cremations), or cemetery (for burials).
When you have chosen your funeral director, let them know that you would like to have the funeral in St Matthew & St James Church, Mossley Hill. They will then liaise with us to make the necessary arrangements regarding the date and time.
The minister who will be taking the service will contact you directly to arrange a visit to discuss the service and help you with details such choosing hymns and readings. They will also want to chat about your loved one so they can include a personal touch in the service.
Many families like to do their own homily or tribute during the service and guidance about this can also be given.
If you have any questions then please contact our Church Administrator, Kathryn.
Further advice and information about all matters relating to how to plan a funeral can be found on the Church of England website.
